    ...
For conclusion, I think it is a great season and I really enjoyed this season although the result is a little bit different from what I expect. In this season, I am the player who has the leading score and leading assists in the team. Even though I think there is still a lot of space for me to improve but I also think I did quite well in this season. Also, it is a pleasure to play with my teammates who are extraordinary and of course our legendary coach: Mr. Stocking. Thanks to every member who participate in the team! Thank you all for this great memory in the last year of my high school life!!!
P.S: Special Thanks to Saad who is not a member in the team this year (member of last year) but still come to the practice and participates in matches frequently. It is reassuring when I know that you are there.
    Learning Outcome:
    1. Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
I think I can play on my own very well but also play with my teammates quite good as well. I get the most points and assists in the team, which I’m really happy about.
    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
In the first year I joined the team, I need to get used to new coach and new teammates, which is a challenge for me. However, as time goes by, I gradually get used to my new teammates and the new strategy we use. In the second year I joined the team, there are many talented players join the team, so I need to think about how can I play as efficient as I used to be, but at the same time decrease my shot attempt. Also, Mr. Stocking, who is the coach, asked me to play both center and power forward during the game, and power forward is a completely new position to me, so I work really hard to learn how can I play effectively as a power forward. In the end, I think I did quite well on playing both positions.
    3. Planned and initiated activities
    4. Worked collaboratively with others
While I get the most assists in team, so I think I work pretty well with my teammates and on sharing the ball.
    5. Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
I didn’t miss any practice and matches in the whole two years even I’m injured, except two practices due to the exams.
    6. Engaged with issues of global importance
    7. Considered the ethical implications of your actions
    8. Developed new skills
I become better on passing and playing two-man basketball. Also, I learned how to play not only as a center, but also as a power forward.

    Date: September 12th, 2013 (1 Hour)
In today’s practice we played a practice match. However, coach set some strict rules to us during the practice match, which are every drop ball the whole team need to run 200m, and every miss serve that person need to do 10 push up. In total we run 9 laps, which is 1800m, and I didn’t miss any serve so I do none push up. In today’s practice I understand the importance of not letting any ball drop since every drop ball means one point for the other team. I believe in Monday’s match with Harrow we will play better.
    Learning Outcome:
    1. Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
I think I did quite well on serving and blocking in the practice and matches. Also, I think my skills on bumping had improved a lot.
    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
In the first year I joined the team, I didn’t play as well as other players, so I didn’t get picked to play in the first team. Therefore, I stayed in the second team for almost the whole season. However, in the end I get picked to play in the first team, and my first game in the season is the ISAC tournament. In the second year I joined the team, I stayed in the first team, but this also means I will need to play a more vital role than last year. I think I get improved a lot and overcome many difficulties, such as the timing for spiking, etc.
    3. Planed and initiated activities
    4. Worked collaboratively with others
Volleyball is a team sports, meaning that one person can do nothing. Therefore, we need to work together, play for each other and trust each other. I think we did a good job to be as a team while we won the 2nd place in the ISAC tournament.
    5. Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
I didn’t miss any practice and matches in both two years.
    6. Engaged with issues of global importance
    7. Considered the ethical implications of your actions
    8. Developed new skills
I think I learned many volleyball skills that I never know or not good at. Also, I learned the importance of group work and communication during a volleyball game. I think people should trust each other not only during the volleyball game, but during other time as well.

In today’s practice we actually played a small practice game, I really enjoyed it but I also find myself too weak. I’m always lazy to run and bend my knees, thus I always miss the ball that I’m able to get. I will still practice on setting, serving, and trying to be more aggressive during the game.
    Date: August 29th, 2013 (2 Hour)
In today’s practice we played practice game both for the practice during lunchtime and afterschool. I think I become more aggressive and start to get back my feeling of serving. I had get 7 points in a row just by serving. However, I think I didn’t do a good job on blocking because I always jump too early thus when the opponent hit the ball it’s too late. Also, I get my uniform today, which is number 47, however it’s too small for me, so I think I will probably keep wearing my basketball uniform.
    Date: August 30th, 2013 (4 Hour)
Today is the first game of the season; the school we play against is ISB. Because this is my second game in the team so I’m still kind of nervous. Although I’m mentally calm, physically I’m still very nervous, especially during the last game (we’re playing best of five), when I’m serving I can even feel my body is shivering. I think in today’s match I’m not aggressive enough, and I need to be more passionate and enthusiastic. To improve my skills I think I need to change my serving form, which means to make my serve more offensive. Therefore my serving can help the team win the game.
Point: 3:2 Win (Best of five)
    Date: August 31st, 2013 (6 Hour)
Today is the second game of the season; we went to BCIS to play a preseason friendly match. The two schools we play against are BCIS and Harrow. I thought the game will be very difficult, but we win both games quite easily, I think this is because we play more teamwork and become more confidence. In today’s game, I find my role in the team, which is a role player who mainly focused on spiking, serving and blocking. When I rotate to the bottom role, I will switch with the libero, who can only play on the bottom role. Although I start to become better, I think I still need to work harder. Also, I think all of us need to be mentally more mature and able to stay focus during the match.
    Point:
Vs. BCIS 3:0 Win (Best of five)
Vs. Harrow 3:0 Win (Best of five)
    Date: September 2nd, 2013 (1 Hour)
In today’s practice we practice some serving and play a practice game. During the practice I find that although my serving become more stable, the power of my serving is not really strong or even quite easy to receive. I think I might need to go further on my serving skills: whether to make it have more power or to control the direction of the serve.
    Date: September 5th, 2013 (2 Hour)
In today’s practice we learned a new formation, which coach give each of us a position: Right, middle or left. No matter we’re at front role or back role, we always need to switch with others so we are in our spot. However, sometime I still can’t manage the timing to switch quite well, I think I should practice on that more. Also, I’ve tried to add some change in direction on my serving, and actually it is quite successful, which I get more than 10 points in a row. Although I didn’t fully master it right now, I think I did improved and I will keep trying hard.
P.S: I’ve been chosen for the ACAMIS tournament in Hong Kong.
    Date: September 9th, 2013 (3 Hour)
Today is the third game of the season; the school we play against is THIS. Although we win the game, I think I didn’t play very well. I think I need to improve the control of my power of spike since I miss a lot of spike in today’s match. Also, I think I should always be stay focused and able to anticipate the direction of the ball; sometime I miss the ball that I’m able to get.
Point: 3:1 Win (Best of five)
    Date: September 11th, 2013 (3 Hour)
Today is the forth game of the season; the school we play against is CIS. They have a lot of big guy and we also played very sloppy, so we lose and this is the first game we lose in the season. I think I should improve my serving and spiking, coach said that I rarely jump during spiking, which will decrease my power in a large extent. Also, I think I should be more focused on the court and contribute more to the team.
Point: 1:3 Lose (Best of five)
    Date: September 12th, 2013 (1 Hour)

    ...
Today is the last meeting we have before the International day, we tried our best to pack all the ticket, plates, napkins and tablewares. However, there are too many of them, but we only have 8 people. So, we decide to ask our classmates to help us, fortunately, everything goes well and we have finished all the things we need to finished, which is very good. I think for tomorrow, I will bring some ice water and snacks for my group members since it will be very busy on the day and we might not have time to take lunch. I believe everything will be fine tomorrow.
    May 18th, 2013 (420 minutes)
    ...
    as well.
    Learning Outcome:
    1. Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
I think my strengths are language and enthusiasm. My strength is language because I can speak both English and Chinese, and also a little bit of Japanese as well, so I will be capable of communicating with people from different countries. Also, ticket selling is a very tiring job, but due to my enthusiasm I never me feel tired about ticket selling.
    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
During the planning stage, I faced many challenges. For example, how to organize the order of tables so we can prevent the consumers steal the ticket or money. Also, because of the number of people will come on that day, we need to prepare around 1800 plates, 30 bags of napkins and 2000 tablewares, and put them into set of one plates, few napkins and one tablewares. During the ticket selling, I also faced many challenges. For example, the number of people come on the day is way more than what we expected, which means we need to speed up the process of ticket selling. However, we, as a group, overcome all of these difficulties.
    3. Planned and initiated activities
This activity involved us to plan the strategy we will use to sell the ticket, how will we set our tables, and organize the working time of each group member as fair as possible.
    4. Worked collaboratively with others
While ticket selling cannot be complete by one person, so teamwork is very important. I think we as a group worked together very well. Sometime, we also went to help although it is not our working time.
    5. Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
Ticket selling continues for around 6 hours, which is quite a long time. Although it is quite tiring, I didn’t leave the ticket-selling table for the whole day.
    6. Engaged with issues of global importance
I think this activity engaged with global issues because all the money we collect during the ticket selling will donate to the people suffer from the earthquake in Ya’an.
    7. Considered the ethical implications of your actions
I think the ethical implications of my actions are to help the people who suffer from the earthquake in Ya’an. Because the more ticket I sell, the more money I collect; the more money I collect, the more money will be donated. As a result, we collect a total of 23,847 RMB, which is quite a huge number.
    8. Developed new skills
I think by doing this activity, it helped me to develop some new skills such as leadership, and the ability of counting and give the change of money in a short amount of time. I think this activity give me the opportunity to be a group leader and organize the activity with my group members. Being a group leader, I understand that a group leader should always take the responsibility of what he is responsible of, and he should always help his group members when they need help.

    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
During this activity I face many new challenges. For example, this time we’re teaching grade 1 students who are way younger than the students I have been taught before, meaning that they are also more naughty than the older students. Another challenge can be the accidental event. During the teaching sections, we find that one group of children learned really fast, which cause us ran out of time. However, we decide to improvise some new events to let them learn and play. In the end, we overcome most of these challenges.

My goal is to prepare a three days teaching course with a group of 4 and make that course successful. I think I reach my goal in these days, maybe at the beginning we’re quite struggle but as time goes by, we get improve. The kids enjoyed our activities very much and I also enjoyed playing with those kids. Also, I feel very happy to work with my group members; they’re the best. I think I learned a new thing, which is having a good plan and some good team members means you’re already half way to success.
Just like what I said, I’m struggled at the beginning because I don’t usually communicate and play with grade 1 student a lot, so I’m quite nervous because I afraid I scared the kids. Also, I find that some kids are very naughty and because of that we can’t keep teaching very well. I think to overcome these difficulties; I should learn how to be more confident with people I don’t know and some ways to make the naughty kid listen to me, like bring some candy next time.
    Learning Outcome:
    1. Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
I think my strengths are the language, experience and passion. First of all, I’m a Chinese so I can communicate with those children easier. Secondly, I’m used to the places that are relatively poor and less developed, so I can work in such environment confidently. Lastly, I have the passion to complete this activity and go over all the difficulties because I really enjoy teaching children, especially when they enjoy the activity I prepared.
    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
During this activity I face many new challenges. 3. Planned and initiated activities
This activity involved us to work in group of 4 and planned some activities that we would want to teach the student in Gufupu.
    4. Worked collaboratively with others
While we are working in group of 4, teamwork will be very important. I think I work pretty well with my group members and we divided the job equally.
    5. Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
In this activity we need to teach the activities we prepared to many different classes. Therefore, it required us to do the same thing continuously.
    6. Engaged with issues of global importance
Nowadays, many people who lived in different places in the world are lived in poverty, Gufupu is one of these places. By doing this activities, we have a chance to make some changes to Gufupu. For example, we use our own money to donate some daily essential products to the local families. Also, by teaching these children some new knowledge and activities, they will learn more knowledge and perhaps understand new English words or new English music, which are all from another culture.
    7. Considered the ethical implications of your actions
I think my ethical implications of my actions are to change the relatively low developed environment in Gufupu and bring happiness to the children/families lived in Gufupu.
    8. Developed new skills
From this activity, I understand the importance of well-prepared, calmness and the ability to improvise.

During this activity, which almost took one year, I think I complete the goal I set at the beginning. In the counterpoint, I get a lot of chances to try and learn new instruments that I never learned before, such as glockenspiel and xylophone. Also, I learned many new pieces of music that I don’t know how to play previously, and I had performed in a few numbers of concert and the graduation ceremony. I think these experiences makes me feel more confident when playing in front of people. Another important thing I learned in the counterpoint is how to play collaboratively with other musicians because I used to be a piano solo player, and the performance in the counterpoint are mostly group performance, so this give me an great opportunity to experience what is it like to perform with other musicians who played different sections and instruments.
In conclusion, it is a pleasure to play as a member of the counterpoint. By join the counterpoint I learned many things that I never know before, and I had many opportunities to try things I never tried before. Every single event and practice in the counterpoint is a precious memory to me.
    Learning Outcome:
    1. Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
I think I did well on learning new music: I learn new music relatively faster than other group members. I think by doing this activity I feel more confident to perform in front of others.
    2. Undertaken NEW challenges
I never join an activity like this, and I used to play solo music in the past but now I will need to play group music with other musicians, which is a new challenge for me.
    3. Planned and initiated activities
Sometime we will compose the music that we will play by ourselves, and sometime we will make changes to the music we play to make it sound better or easier for everyone to play.
    4. Worked collaboratively with others
The activity required me to play group music with other musicians and I think I gradually become better on playing group music.
    5. Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
This activity is one of my long-term project, which last for almost a year. Also, we need to play the same piece of music again and again to make sure we master that piece of music. Therefore, it required me to practice the music continuously. Also, I participate in most of the practice even in the second year there are only about four members left in the group.
    6. Engaged with issues of global importance
    7. Considered the ethical implications of your actions
    8. Developed new skills
I learned how to play new instruments such as Glockenspiel and Xylophone.

Today, we keep practicing those four pieces. However, Mr. Lindner said due to some of the member in the group who will leave the school for vacation before the winter concert, so we will not have enough people to perform during the winter concert.

    I never tried before.
For the BISS Counterpoint, I didn't play piano in the counterpoint but learn two new instruments which are
learned before, such as glockenspiel and xylophone. These two instruments are not very hard to learn but there are many different techniques you can used when you're playing, but this is somethingAlso, I still need time to know. We practice four piecelearned many new pieces of music that I don’t know how to play previously, and perform for the christmas concert and two hotels concert. I think these concerts are all very good experience for me. I also playedhad performed in a solo piece during the christmasfew numbers of concert and the graduation ceremony. I think Ithese experiences makes me feel more confident than before, which is a very goodwhen playing in front of people. Another important thing I learned in the counterpoint is how to me.
    After performed these concerts,
play collaboratively with other musicians because I think I still haveused to be a long waypiano solo player, and the performance in the counterpoint are mostly group performance, so this give me an great opportunity to goexperience what is it like to perform with other musicians who played different sections and still can improveinstruments.
    In conclusion, it is
